Our Labor Day Camping Trip: By the Numbers ...
1 - How many of us came home with sunburns.
2- The number of naps I took. (Yay, naps!)
3 - Times my 2-year-old walked right into the lake with his shoes and socks on.
4 - How many books I read during the trip. (Yay, books!)
5 - How many deer we saw.
6 - How many "improved" Deer Crossing Signs we saw.
7 - The number of "hikes" we took around the lake and streams.
8 - The average number of seconds a 4-year-old can stand to watch a fishing line without reeling it in and recasting it. Again.
9 - The number of times I had to untangle a child's fishing line.
0 - How many fish were caught.
Yeah, we had a blast. :)
And of course, you're the one with the sunburn. Go, MOM!
ReplyDeleteLooks like you had a blast, even if sans fish . . .
Now THAT sounds like a good time! And even with no fish, there are worse ways to spend your time.
ReplyDeleteSounds like you guys enjoyed yourself, but you forgot one number: how many times did mom get "the shakes" from missing internet?
ReplyDeleteSounds like fun -- what great pics! Your boys are so cute.
ReplyDeleteI loved the casting and recasting, and the improved deer signs....classic!
ReplyDeleteI took my daughter fishing/camping this weekend too. She loved it.
ReplyDeleteNice deer photo! Sounds like a great time all around, aside from the sunburn. Glad you had a good trip.
ReplyDeleteYay for books and naps.
ReplyDeleteI can't wait until my little man is old enough to take camping. Sounds like a blast.
Were you able to count the number of smiles? (Boy, does that sound cheesy)
ReplyDeleteCheek: To tell the truth, I'm happier when I *don't* have to clean and cook fish. But, shhhhh, don't tel my husband that. ;)
ReplyDeleteT: It was a great time. So nice to just get away for a while.
SFD: I did pretty good, actually. I did whimper and twitch a bit when we drove past a coffee shop in Mammoth with a big "Free Wi-Fi" sign in the window. But I got over it a mile or two down the road.
Brutalism: Thank you! :)
Chief: Aren't those deer signs a hoot? Someone "fixed" at least a half-dozen along 395 to make sure everyone knows that it's not just deer crossing territory, it's well-hung deer crossing territory!
Danielle: Isn't it great? My 4 year old didn't want to come home!
YEO: Thanks. Even the sunburn didn't spoil things. :)
K: It's great. Dirty, but great! I can't wait until they are big enough to go backpacking! :)
Trooper: Cheese is always welcome at Casa Zen. No worries. And yes, there were lots of smiles to go around. :)
So THAT'S where you were. Missed the sarcasm :)
ReplyDeleteLooks like such a fun time! Funny signs!! lol
ReplyDeleteWhat fun!
ReplyDeleteI didn't know you had a 2 year old and a 4 year old!
Me, too. Only the female kind.
Looks like a great time! I didn't know you were the proud owner of two boys as well. I'll be coming your way for advice!
ReplyDeleteSounds like you had a great time. Welcome back to humanity.
ReplyDeleteLooks like an awesome trip!
ReplyDeleteStopping by checking out your mommy blog. I just started one and am looking at other Blogher members sites.
I enjoyed visiting yours. You have beautiful family.

That was fun. Glad you had a great time even if you didn't have luck with the fish.
ReplyDeleteLooks like you all had a great trip!
ReplyDeleteWelcome back! :)

Sounds like you had a great time, though at the end of it you could have sarcastically said:
ReplyDelete"So long, and thanks for all the fish!"
LOL! Nicely played, James. :)
ReplyDeleteAdded up, it sounds like fun.
ReplyDeleteFun! I love when little boys will walk right into water with their shoes on. My son's done that plenty.
ReplyDeleteI ALWAYS get the sunburn! Gotta love it!
ReplyDeleteWe went camping this last weekend and actually hit a deer...oops!
I love it! How fun! Glad you all had a blast!
